染付宝文盒子［2022東美アートフェア］


直径は20㎝を超える大型の盒子。このような盒は19世紀の墓誌盒によく見られるようですが、それらは例外なく無文様ですので、本作は別の用途で使われたものと考えられます。

飲食物を保管する盒子として用いられたのでしょうか。


宝文が大きく前後左右に描かれています。簡略化された描き方ではなく、亀甲文や市松文、更紗文といった文様がそれぞれのモチーフの中に盛り込まれており、並々ならぬ絵付けです。




中でも注目したいのは、身の前後にある巻子と冊子。巻子には「山居圖」、冊子には「山海経」と題名が書かれています。

山居図といえば有名なのは元時代の画家、黄公望が1347年にから10年かけて描いた「富春山居図」。故宮博物院に収蔵されています。

山海経は古代中国の地理書で山川に住む動植物、鉱物、怪物や神々について書かれた書物です。文字が書かれた陶磁器はその時代の人々の思想的バックグラウンドを窺うことができるため、史料としても貴重な作品です。


This is a large-sized container with a diameter of over 20 cm. Such containers are often seen in tombstone containers of the 19th century, but they are usually without patterns, so we think that this piece was used for a different purpose. It may have been used as a container for storing food and drink. The large treasure motifs are drawn in front, back, left, and right. The painting is not simplified, but rather, each motif includes a hexagonal and checkerboard pattern, making it an extraordinary painting.

Of particular note are the scrolls and books on the front and back of the body. The title of the scroll is "San-kyo-zu" (山居圖) and the title of the book is "San-kai-kyo" (山海経). The most famous of these is "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains," which was painted by Yuan dynasty painter Huang Gong Wang in 1347 over a period of ten years. It is in the collection of the National Palace Museum. The Shan Hai Jing is an ancient Chinese geography book that describes plants, animals, minerals, monsters, and gods living in mountains and rivers. Ceramics on which the text is inscribed are valuable as historical objects because they provide a glimpse into the ideological backgrounds of the people of the time.
